1. The Nature of This Service
Burlingame Residents Directory is a privately operated reference for public rolls, record indexes, and historical collections connected with Burlingame, San Mateo County, and California. It does not store government records and is not affiliated with an office, court, library, or records custodian.
2. Acceptable Use
Use these pages only for lawful purposes. You must not use the service or information reached through it to:
- Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm another person.
- Find a person who is protected by a restraining or protective order.
- Commit fraud, identity theft, or another unlawful act.
- Make a decision governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, including a credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decision.
- Scrape, copy, or republish the pages at scale.
- Disrupt the service, bypass security, or interfere with its operation.
3. No Consumer Reports
This service is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. section 1681 and following sections. Neither the pages nor a result from a linked search tool is a consumer report, and neither may be used to assess eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose covered by that law.
4. External Links and Tools
Government portals, libraries, archives, and sponsored search services have separate terms and privacy policies. Burlingame Residents Directory does not control their content, uptime, prices, results, or data handling, and a link is not an endorsement or guarantee.
5. No Warranties
The service is supplied “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent allowed by law, no warranty is made that a page, link, record description, fee, coverage statement, or external portal is accurate, complete, current, secure, or available.
6. Liability Limits
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or similar damages arising from use of this service or a linked resource, including an action taken from a record found through it.
7. Indemnification
You agree to defend and hold the operators harmless from claims, demands, losses, and reasonable attorney fees arising from your misuse of the service or your violation of these terms.
8. Copyright and Site Materials
The original writing, design, logo, and layout belong to the operators or their licensors. A reader may link to a page and quote a short excerpt with attribution. Full-page republication, systematic copying, and automated extraction are not permitted.
9. Changes to These Terms
The operators may revise these terms by posting an updated version. Continued use after the revision takes effect means that you accept the changed terms.
10. Suspension or Termination
Access may be blocked, limited, or ended for a user who violates these terms, abuses the service, or creates a security risk. The operators may take that action without advance notice.
11. California Law
California law governs these terms, without applying conflict-of-law principles. The California Public Records Act, Government Code sections 7920.000-7931.000, governs requests to California agencies, while the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act, including Civil Code section 1798.100 and following sections, govern eligible privacy rights. Neither statute requires this private reference service to create or certify a Burlingame residents directory.
12. Severability
If a court finds one provision unenforceable, that provision will be limited or removed to the required extent and the remaining terms will continue in effect.
13. Questions
Questions about these terms may be sent through the Contact page. Requests for a record itself belong with the government office, court, library, or archive that holds it.
